In your email, please indicate during which shift you desire to volunteer: Day (M-F 8a-3:00p); Evening (M-F 3-8:30p) or Weekends (8:30a - 8:30p). Also note whether you are an adult or a teen. Sorry, but we do not accept volunteers for summer breaks, holidays-only or episodic volunteering. Thank you.

We have many opportunities available in many different areas of the hospital.
All adult volunteers are required to complete an Authorization to Release Information form for a background check/fingerprinting. All volunteers must commit to one year and 100 hours per year of service, be able to work independently and supply a Social Security Number.

Hospital Volunteer - Help on patient floors to visit patients, refresh ice water, answer call lights, pick up and deliver patient meal trays, restock patient care supplies on units: discharge patients; greet and guide visitors; clerical work; information desk; deliver flowers and many more duties. Volunteer RN - For Ohio licensed RNs who are either retired or want to come back into the nursing field to perform duties such as bathing, turning patients while in bed, meal assistance, obtain vital signs and other assistance to staff RNs. Behavioral Health Volunteer - Volunteers must be actively working in a recovery program. They must also be sober and have maintained their sobriety for one year consistently prior to initiating their volunteer work. How to Become a Riverside Methodist Volunteer
Riverside Methodist volunteers are required to take certain steps before starting their volunteer responsibilities.

Complete a volunteer application.

Complete an Authorization to Release Information form for a background check/fingerprinting. A background check/fingerprinting for adults is mandatory in order to become a volunteer. All volunteers must include social security number and signature or the application will not be process  ed. No fee to the volunteer.

Students in high school must be 15 years of age to apply and must have parental consent, sign the student contract and dress code, submit two letters of recommendation and submit a signed parental consent to have the TB test administered.

Get a TB test. All volunteers must take an initial two step TB test, and then each year a one step TB test in April. Those wanting to work in the Emergency Room, or Maternity area must take a health assessment. This must be done prior to Orientation. No fee to the volunteer. TB tests are not administered without presenting a valid hospital ID badge.

Interview with a staff member in the volunteer office. You will be called to set up an appointment once your application has been processed.

Purchase a volunteer uniform. Uniforms are sold in the Volunteer Office and range from $8 to $23.

A badge must be obtained in our ID Badge Center near our Security Department prior to orientation. A valid license or student ID must be presented to obtain a badge. Adults will be fingerprinted at this time with no cost to the volunteer.

Attend a New Volunteer Orientation. Orientations are generally held on the third Wednesday 6 - 8:30 pm each month. There is no orientation in December.
Prospective volunteers who have recently been hospitalized must wait six months before volunteering.
